Why Did the wise men come?

What caused priestly Zoroastrianists to come to worship Christ? Caspar, Melchior, Balthasar, Hor, Karsudan, Basanater, Kagpha,Badadakharida, Badadilma -- What ever names you want to give them -- why would forigen non-believers come to see one who was supposed to be Jewish Messiah? Would Mary and Joseph let them in to see 2 year old Jesus if they knew that they weren't seeking the Messiah but Saoshyant instead? Were they?

Enigmatic figures in scripture always spark our imaginations.

If the Jews had been sucessful in their adherance to the Will of God, would Jesus have still been required to die, or would he be allowed to continue to teach as the Son of God? Was the occupation the of Romans the failure that triggered the comming of the Messiah? Do we have control over the prophetic triggers that God has placed on us?
